When irritation or infection of the tooth pulp occurs, bacteria will thrive inside the pulp and the decayed tooth, without any treatment, the pulp and its surrounding tissues will then swell and cause extreme pain. Eventually, the growing number of bacteria will then infect the bone structure resulting to tooth loss.

Previously, tooth extraction would be a primary option. But, with endodontics, your natural tooth can still be saved. What happens is that your dentist will remove the infected nerve of your tooth. Other cosmetic dentistry procedures can then be recommended, like veneers or crowns, to make the natural tooth look better, giving you a more natural and beautiful smile.

To determine whether you are a candidate for a root canal treatment, your dentist will take digital x-ray images of your tooth. If you are indeed in need of endodontics, your dentist will then schedule a series of appointments for your procedure.
